Consumption Information

Most of the agri-commodities have been going through a linear growth of consumption. The three main categories of consumers are:

Actual Household Consumption
Actual Processor Consumption
Actual Institutional Consumption

The fourth category, though not a consumer, but has substantial influence is known as “CARRY OVER STOCKS”.

A database management software is being developed to continuously keep track of consumption in the world.

Price Sensitivity Analysis

While on one hand, the consumption of agri-commodities generally shows linear growth, on other hand, it has been observed that even the production has also been growing linearly. Despite, most agri-commodities shows wild fluctuations in their prices from year to year and within a year, that too many times in a year.

Software tools are being developed to continuously monitor prices and to conduct price sensitivity analysis for decision making.

Production Trend Analysis

With the opening up of economies and reducing trade restrictions for international movement of goods, most agri-commodities are now affected by happenings not only at local levels but also at global levels. It has been observed that 5-10 percent variations in productions can affect prices by 50-100 percent.

A combination of field level information collection and database analysis is being developed to continuously monitor the production trends in selected areas.

Production Monitoring

Most agri-products are seasonally produced. Most of the production from the producers comes into the market in a very short period ranging from 20-70 days. However, the availability during this period is influenced by year round happenings, and more so during the cultivation seasons.

An extensive outreach arrangement is being created to collect field level information for continuous monitoring of production and advance planning.

Market-Trade Movement Analysis

Every product is generally produced in many locations and it also moves to specific locations for consumption. Any change in normal market-trade movement affects the sentiments of trade channel players affecting other stakeholders.

GPS based online solutions are being developed to track the movement of goods in selected production areas and markets.
